Dear Lucerne Valley volunteer,
High winds, mudslides, fires, quakes, it is alarmingly
apparent that we need to stay ready for fire emergencies and other natural
causes that threaten our community.
Will you join us in supporting a certified training
system that will enable all new volunteers to step up to help when the call
goes out?
The Community Emergency Response Team program, know as
CERT, is now active in Lucerne Valley. We invite your group or a volunteer
representative from your group, or individual to take action by signing-up
for CERT training.
This CERT program, as you may already know, has the
potential to train and prepare volunteers to work with our county’s fire and
sheriff’s departments as auxiliary assistants in time of need. The CERT
program is nationally recognized and supported by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) – the same division active in getting victims of
Hurricane Katrina back on their feet.
We need concerned and determined volunteers to take
action.
Please fill out the
enclosed form and send it in care of:
Capt. Ben VanWyk to
the LVFD address indicated on the form.
Thank you. You’ve taken the first step. Now we’ll
do the rest.
Sincerely,
Barbara LaGrange,
on behalf of Lucerne
