Lucerne Valley is located in
San Bernardino County,
Southeastern California at the crossroads of State Highways 18 and 247, just 25 miles from
I-15, 34 miles from I-40 and one and a half hours Northeast of Palm Springs. All within 2
hours driving distance are the centers of population and commerce of Los Angeles and
Orange Counties and the Inland Empire
(SanBernardino/Riverside/Ontario), plus regional and international airports and
transportation terminals.
This valley is attractively located for commerce whose markets and suppliers have the
Southwest and Pacific Rim orientations. The region also features an impressive offering of
some colleges and universities, and a work force that is skilled, educated and available.
Scenic Lucerne Valley is a rural location of about 400 sq. miles, approximately one half
of which is suitable for development. There is abundant acreage in small and large parcels
at very favorable prices relative to any other location in Southern California. Large dry
lakes are less than 10 minutes from the center of town and they have been successfully
used for movie making and equipment testing.

Climate
Dry High Desert climate, 3000 - 4000 ft. elevation. Mild winter days, generally warm,
dry weather with few rainy days. One or two light snowfalls per winter.
Sunshine - 365 days per year, almost!
Rainfall - 3.85 inches per year.
Humidity - less than 30% average.

Demographics
Lucerne Valley is a working and retirement community, industrious, with a significant
number of willing volunteers in proportion to population, compared to larger communities.
We are part of a High Desert population of more than 200,000. Our local population is
8,961 according to the 2000 census. We are a growing community.

Infrastructure
At the crossroads to major California, Arizona and Nevada cities. Trucking oriented
community, including one major trucking facility.
Chamber of Commerce is working closely with County and State Highway Departments to
improve Highway 18 corridor.
Major rail spur line adjacent to existing and potential industrial properties.
Major highway and rail systems in nearby Victor Valley. Air transportation becoming
available at Southern California International Airport. Private airport within 20 miles.
Established community services include two shopping centers, markets, bank, hardware,
lumber, restaurants, gas stations, mechanics, ect.
Septic Systems are currently allowed for most projects.

Housing
Current housing offers low density, rural, affordable living at some of the most
reasonable prices in southern California. Pleasant mountain/ desert valley setting.
Significant acreage with beautiful views. Large lots are abundant and available for
developing ranches and farms. Local Building Contractors and
materials are available in Lucerne Valley.

To assist the region's college graduates and experienced workers who are new to the Inland
Empire, a program is being launched called 'ieTechJobs.com, ' which will utilize a
web-based site to match technical workers with the companies that need them. The region is
making every effort to fully utilize its educational assets and labor force, and to allow
residents to work close to home and avoid freeway commutes.
Regional Occupational Programs give students specific training leading directly to work,
and county-sponsored programs assist area businesses with human resource needs,
recruitment and hiring, prescreening and testing, training reimbursements, and tax
incentives.
The math, science and creative skills needed to utilize today's technological advances are
fostered in elementary grades and reinforced through high school. A Workforce Development
program brings together experts from business and education to identify workforce needs,
with a focus on the emerging economy
